This Easter, Vereen Adventures curated an unforgettable camping experience to the breathtaking Lake Ellis, offering travelers a perfect blend of adventure, serenity, and connection with nature. Nestled on the eastern slopes of Mount Kenya at an altitude of approximately 3,455 meters, Lake Ellis welcomed us with crisp mountain air, sweeping landscapes, and a sense of calm that only the highlands can offer.
WHERE TRAVEL IS TRANSFORMED INTO AN ART OF DISCOVERY AND INDULGENCE
Camping Under the Stars
Our adventure started with a scenic drive toward the Chogoria Gate, followed by a moderate 4–5 hour hike through lush forest trails and open moorlands. Along the way, we enjoyed views of the iconic Nithi Falls, a refreshing highlight that set the tone for the journey ahead. Every step brought a deeper connection to nature, as the landscape transitioned into the stunning alpine environment surrounding the lake.
Arriving at Lake Ellis was nothing short of magical. The still waters mirrored the towering peaks of Mount Kenya, creating a picture-perfect setting for our Easter camp. We settled into well-organized camping setups, enjoying warm meals, laughter around the campfire, and the rare luxury of silence only broken by nature. As night fell, the sky revealed a blanket of stars, a truly unforgettable experience.
Moments of Adventure & Reflection
The trip offered a mix of relaxation and activity. Some guests explored the lake’s surroundings through guided hikes, while others tried their hand at fly fishing or simply soaked in the tranquillity of the environment. Known by locals as a “lake of birth,” Lake Ellis carries a sense of renewal and calm, making it the perfect Easter getaway destination.
As the trip ended, we descended with not just photos, but stories, connections, and memories that will last a lifetime. The Easter Lake Ellis camping trip was a true reflection of what Vereen Adventures stands for, thoughtfully curated experiences that inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impression.
